Re: New Mexico State Police Brotherhood Association - 21st Annual Reunion

Hello Everyone!

We want to thank all of you that were able to attend this year's 21st Annual Brotherhood Reunion last week-end in Ruidoso. This was the largest reunion we have ever had thanks to the NMSP Association hosting their Annual Retirement Banquet in conjunction with our reunion. We hope you had a great time.

The news that we now have an official State of NM "Retired NMSP License Plate" is very exciting news and we thank Chief Faron Segotta, Senator Tim Jennings and Jerry for their not giving up on this cause. Any retired NMSP officer will now be able to purchase this special plate for an additional $25.00 over your normal vehicle registration fees. Now that the final plate design has been chosen, we will let you know when the plate will be available to purchase. Hopefully it won't be too long.

To meet the four A.S.P.E.N. Scholarship winners and have their families join us for their presentation was very moving. Thank you K. C. and Kevin for such a generous gesture in memory of

Chris Jaramillo and Pete Ross. It was wonderful to have Martha Jaramillo and Anne Ross join us in the awarding of the scholarships. We hope to increase the amounts and number of deserving kids and grand kids of retired and active NMSP officers.

The NMSP Grave Marker project is also progressing nicely thanks to Danny Kiper, Al Mitchell and Dean Smith. The have spent countless hours researching this project and locating donors to help fund it. When it comes to fruition, the families of all of those NMSP officers that have gone before us will cherish this gesture from the Brotherhood Association.

Our sincere thanks for all of those great folks that donated the spectacular raffle items and great door prizes. Each year the talent amongst our members is astonishing! A BIG thank-you to the NMSP Association for paying for the banquet meal on Saturday night. We had over 300 people in attendance and their generosity to the Brotherhood is and always has been incredibly generous. Without their financial assistance, we would all be eating sack lunches in the park!

As always we had several new faces this year and we hope to see all of those and the ones that never fail to come back next year as we come together to "share old memories of the NMSP and hopefully make a lot of new ones"!

After much negotiating with the Hotel and Convention Center's availability at the same time and trying to find a date that didn't interfere with Easter, Mother's Day, Ruidoso Downs Race Track opening (which increases rates) and other large groups that have already booked their dates, next year's reunion is scheduled for April 3rd, 4th, and 5th, 2009. Our room rates will remain the same $89.00, $99.00 and $109.00. I increased the NMSP Brotherhood room block for next year by another 10 rooms but I was told last week that our block is already sold out! This tells us everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves!

We would suggest you go ahead and reserve your rooms now (even if you have to cancel at last minute) so we will not have to move to overflow hotels and allow another smaller group to schedule a conference in the hotel at the same time as we are there. We know that last minute plans can change, but better to be safe than sorry and not get to stay in the same place with everyone. The phone number for The Lodge at Sierra Blanca is 1-866-211-7727.

Again, thanks to everyone that jumped in and helped out with all of the events. After 21 years things just fall into place and together, we get it all done.

We hope everyone has a healthy, happy and safe year. Until we see you again, be safe and God Bless all of you.

Sincerely,

Jerry and Mary Gayle Wood
NMSP Brotherhood Association
