.............................
Dear Friends,
I have been asked to pass on the following invitation, to participate in a Film Documentary, Honoring New Mexico Veterans.
Julia Pyatt's contact information is at the end of the letter, should you have any questions.
Thanks for all your encouragement and support regarding the Legacy of Letters film project. Below I will describe the basic outline of what we are looking for regarding the upcoming film shoot in Albuquerque on August 21 at the New Mexico Veteran's Memorial Park and Museum, 1100 Louisiana Blvd, SE. Tel: 505-256-2042.
Tony Martinez, Director and Producer of the film documentary, Colors of Courage, Sons of New Mexico, Prisoners of Japan and Cabinet Secretary, John M. Garcia, NM Department of Veterans Services have teamed up to collaborate on a film initiative called A Legacy of Letters.
The long term idea for this project is to showcase the service of New Mexico Veterans throughout the centuries vis a vis a film documentary.
The immediate goal is to create a short film for educational and promotional purposes to be screened on September 9th in honor of Hispanic Veteran's Appreciation Month in New Mexico.
The short film will act as a marketing tool for the documentary and as a promotional and educational tool for the NM Dept of Veteran's Services.
As the researcher for the project, I am interested in meeting New Mexico Veteran's who served in Iraq and Afghanistan who have access to poignant letters they sent back home. Their letters will be read by a family member on Tuesday, August 21 at the New Mexico Veteran's Museum in Albuquerque for the film shoot. If a family member is not available, then a close friend of the Veteran could work as well.
Here are the guidelines:
1. Please have the Veteran call me or email me immediately so we can make plans. My cell number is 505-779-4778 and home/office is (505) 758-5831.My email is juliapyatt@kitcarson.net
2. We will need the Veteran's presence at the film shoot in Albuquerque on Tuesday, August 21.
3. I will need to review their letters ahead of time.
4. We will need the Veteran to bring the letters to the film shoot.
5. We will need the family member or friend present at the film shoot.
6. We will need the Veteran to bring memorabilia with them for the filming. They include: childhood photos, military photos, medals, newspaper articles, film clips, etc.
7. We will need their approval to film their hometown and home where they came from.
8. We will need the Veteran and their family member who will read the letters to sign release forms giving us approval to film them and use their footage for the above-stated purpose.
9. For more information on the work of Tony Martinez please go to www.silverhornentertainment.com. Tony is an Emmy-Award winning documentary filmmaker and television producer for Fox Sports and ESPN in Dallas. Please be sure to click on "Documentary" to view the trailer for "Colors of Courage".
I would like to send a special thank you to the Veteran's and their families for getting back to me.
All the best,
Julia Pyatt

PS: I’ve clarified some items with Julia that are not in her e-mail:
The vet does not have to be Hispanic. E-mails also qualify as a letter. The letter can also be from active military personnel
